Students Gear Up for School Elections as “Miting de Avance” Sets the Stage for Candidate Showdown : Aspiring Student Leaders Present Bold Plans for a More Responsible and Inclusive School Community

On September 13, 2023, the HFA grounds became a hub of excitement and enthusiasm as Holinian students came together for the highly-anticipated “Miting de Avance”. The event featured student leaders from the Elementary, Junior High School, and Senior High School levels, each with their unique visions for a brighter future.

Elementary SBO:

Two partylists, A.L.A.B and Smile, took the stage to share their visions. A.L.A.B pledged to lead by example, provide excellent services, support environmental initiatives, attend all school activities, and encourage new enrollments through clubs and academics. Smile, on the other hand, promised to be present at all school events, tackle bullying, create a safe and green environment, promote sports and academic clubs, and ensure high-quality lessons for all.

Junior High School SBO:

The SLAY PARTY, with its unique platform, aims to "slay" various issues including waste management, unity, and vandalism. The ROYALE PARTY focused on recycling, managing waste effectively, and encouraging open communication.

Senior High School SBO:

The OMS Partylist presented a comprehensive set of initiatives, including students' showcases, online surveys, creative booths, and recycling projects. They also emphasized strict discipline, proper hygiene in comfort rooms, and eco-friendly decorations.

YES partylist introduced four pillars: "Batang Pasaway" for discipline, addressing issues such as uniform compliance and tardiness; "Sumbong Kalabog" to combat bullying through a dedicated reporting system; "Mother Earth" to enhance the school's cleanliness, waste management, and gardening projects; and GG! (Good Game) for increasing students’ engagement and participation during events and school activities. The "Mother Earth" pillar includes creative recycling ideas, such as using plastic bottles to make bricks for garden restoration.

After the speeches, the candidates answered questions from the student body. The questions ranged from specific policy proposals to more general questions about the candidates' leadership styles and experiences. The candidates answered the questions thoughtfully and honestly, and the students seemed to be engaged and interested in what they had to say.

As the Miting de Avance concluded, the audience was left inspired by the ambitious goals and innovative ideas presented by the student leaders. The upcoming elections promise a bright future for Holinian school, with each candidate and partylist determined to make a significant impact on the school community.

Overall, the Miting De Avance was a success. It gave students the opportunity to learn more about the candidates and their platforms, and it helped to generate excitement for the upcoming election. The election will be held on September 14, and the results will be announced the next day, September 15.
